On Friday, May 27 2011, Edward Travis Mac Fawn of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away at Duke University Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Boston, MA, and graduated from Boston University in 1963. He was in the U.S Navy on active duty and reserves for 25 years, retiring as Commander in 1981. Ed traveled the world and lived with his family in Hingham, MA; Markham, ON, Canada and Reston, VA, before moving to Sunset Beach in 1998, where he became a well liked and admired real estate sales executive. Ed was a great storyteller, and was eager to share his life experiences to a listening ear. Strangers became friends, and he was always willing to lend a hand, a tool, or time. All who knew him felt his sincerity. He instilled in his children the importance of hard work, integrity, love of family & friends. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife, Marge; their 3 children Tracy Lee Hibbard of Ash, NC, Edward T. Mac Fawn Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Beth Lynn Mac Fawn of Bozeman, MT, 8 grandchildren, his brother Robert, of Lewes, DE, and sister Marilyn Buckner, of Marshfield, MA. His youngest brother Paul preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers please give a donation to the American Cancer Society, smile to a stranger, bring someone a flower, fill out a donation card, be a good neighbor. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4 at 11 am, at St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
