- Arvil Butts, who spent his entire lifetime in and near Dunn Station, died in his home there last Thursday afternoon (April 22, 1948) having suffered a heart attack.
Mr. Butts was born May 12, 1885, son of Ambrose & Mary Butts. In 1903 he was converted and Baptized into the Oak Grove Baptist church and has always been a very faithful worker there.
He was united in marriage to Susan Elizabeth Taylor on December 29, 1909, and to this union was born one child, Margaret Elizabeth. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 1911.
On Feb. 27, 1918, he was married to Rosa Ethel Merris. To this union three children were born, Donald Merris, who preceded him in death, Martha Catherine and Barbara Ellen.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Daum and Mrs. Raymond Howell, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Grove church with the Rev. Carl Brown of Boody officiating, assisted by Rev. H.E. Adams.
The pall bearers were Lester Baker, C.F. Standerfer, Ancil Wright, Walter McGee, Godfrey Shipman and Walter Shipman.
The flowers were carried by Mrs. Ralph Neathery, Miss Evelyn Florey, Mrs. Ancil Wright, Mrs. Walter McGee, Mrs. Godfrey Shipman, Mrs. May Frederick, Mrs. Gladys Queen and Mrs. John Jones.
The Music was furnished by Mrs. Opal Tohill and Miss Thelma Jackson, accompanied by Mrs. E.A. Grabb at the piano.
Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
