- The Lord blessed the world by giving us Earl Huelsbeck for 101 years, and now He can appreciate this warm, sincere, gentle man the way so many of us have. Earl was a successful man by all measures. The numbers are certainly there, six children: Evelyn Birling, Menasha; Elaine Bishop, St. Louis, Missouri; Corrine Malc, Ocala, Florida; Joan Cassella, Atlanta, Georgia; Betty Schultz, Salinas, California; and David Huelsbeck, Neenah. Then comes 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. His sister, Angeline Williamson of Appleton also survives him.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mathilda, in 1991; and two brothers, Clarence and Hubert Huelsbeck.
After an upbringing on the farm, Earl was a milkman for Gear Dairy in Menasha for most his working days. Meeting people made his job rewarding. Always a smile and always whistling were his trademarks. Successfully raising a family of six during the depression days, Earl and Tillie redefined the words love, understanding and perserverance. A musician of natural talents, he often supplemented their income by playing in a band, yet another means of enjoying people and sharing a good time. A frequent quote of his ... "The only thing better than fun is more fun." The trademark "Whiteone" and "Plowboy", always in moderation, attest to his philosophy and longevity.
That the world were populated by Earl Huelsbecks ... but we can only emulate him and his contributions. Now only the Lord can relish his own works.
So how does one measure success? A Family member summed it up beautifully, "Over a century of love."
Funeral services for Earl will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 Appleton Street, Menasha with Father Michael Norieka S.S.S. officiating. Family and friends will be received on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha.
A special prayer and thank you to the staff at Oakridge Gardens for making him feel loved and cared for.
