- Leon J. Bartlein, 64, route 1, Menasha, died at 2:15 a.m. today after a long illness. He was born July 28, 1894 in Calumet county and was an engineer at the Lutz Ice company for 38 years. Bartlein was a World War I veteran.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic church with burial in St. Joseph cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today and Friday at the Wichmann Funeral home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. The Rainbow division will conduct military services.
Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Vernon Birkholz, Appleton, Mrs. Robert West, Kimberly, and Mrs. Joseph Sauter, Scott Air Force base, Ill; one son, Vernon, Madison; one brother, Lester, route 2, Menasha; one sister, Mrs. Henry Rosenow, Menasha; and 20 grandchildren.
